Trip to the Alps

In 14-17 December 2007 company trip to Austria took place. We spent the first night in Vienna in order to set off early to reach our destination: “Polish winter capital of Austria” city Zell am See. The city is located over the large lake (in winter: ice field). Thanks to the lovely old city we could spend our time having great fun and shopping around. We stayed in a four star hotel Badhaus. After a few hours of skiing we could rest and regain our strength in one of three saunas and in the swimming pool and then we had a meal in the lovely atmosphere of the beautiful hotel restaurant. The dishes presented great cooking skills as befits a hotel of such standard. The best Italian and Austrian wines were not missing as well.

Nearby there were three ski areas: on the peaks Schmittenhohe (2000 m), Maiskogel (1675) and on the glacier Kitzsteinhorn (3025 m, the glacier located closest to Poland). Together there are 56 ski routes which are 156 km long and are serviced by 72 ski-lifts with the capacity of 75 thousand people per hour. We spent the first day on the glacier and the second one on the peaks Schmittenhohe. It is difficult to assess which is more beautiful: the soaring rough rocks of Kitzsteinhorn or panorama over 30 highest peaks visible from Schmittenhohe. We will surely remember the impressions and the sense of great fun for a very long time.
